Teen Driving Safe Mobility

I have read the requirements for new drivers in my state, and I will follow these rules. (See Ohio’s requirements at http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/dl-gdl.aspx.)

I will never use my phone or any other electronic device while driving. If I need to answer a phone call, adjust my GPS, or change the music, I will pull over in a safe area first.

I understand that a speed limit is a LIMIT. I will never drive faster than allowed by a posted speed limit.

I will never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

I will always drive with plenty of space between my car and the car in front of me. For every added 10 mph I drive, I will leave one car length of space between me and the car in front of me. This means at 25 mph I should leave 2 ½ car lengths, at 70 mph I should leave 7 car lengths.

I will always ask for permission when I want to drive, except for routine trips that have been agreed upon (like a normal drive to work or school).

I will never drive past my curfew.

I will never drive with a passenger unless I have been given specific permission.

I know that distractions from passengers are the biggest crash risk for drivers. When I drive with a passenger, I will set clear rules about distractions and never let a passenger distract me to take my eyes off the road.

I will never allow another person to drive my car.

I will follow the rules of this agreement. If I break a rule, my parents have the right to suspend my driving privileges.
